Wayne Boosahda came to a living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through a dramatic conversion encounter with Him in the fall of 1965 and in 1967 experienced the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the release of spiritual gifts while attending a charismatic renewal United Methodist Church in Cockrell Hill, TX. He immediately began witnessing to the reality and power of Christ's love on his college campus, in job settings and in the dynamic youth ministry of Cockrell Hill UMC. He and many other young, new followers of Jesus were discipled while at Cockrell Hill by the Rev. Bob Stamps, who later became the campus Chaplain for Oral Roberts University for 13 years.
Wayne and Stephanie Boosahda
Previous to transferring to ORU from Arlington College in the fall of 1969, Bishop Wayne served in two different congregations as a youth pastor and worship leader in youth evangelism and discipleship, leading many other young people to life changing personal encounters with Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. From the beginning of his relationship with Christ as Lord of his life, music and arts were foundational elements of his witness and service to others through the Gospel. Participating in various Jesus rock bands as musician and vocalist while at ORU – in the emergence of the Jesus Movement - as well as high school and college involvement in drama, he honed the gifts, anointing, and vision that would coincide with his future wife Stephanie’s gifts and callings and prepare him for their ministry as a couple.
In over 54 years of personal relationship and service to Christ and His Kingdom, he has had extensive background in worship renewal ministry, church planting/pastoring, leadership equipping and formation, as well as teaching and speaking across a wide spectrum of the Church of Jesus Christ in many denominations, conferences and schools. For five years he worked as a musician/songwriter and former CCM record producer/publisher. He also serves as a spiritual father and mentor to new and emerging leaders and church planters in the convergence/ancient-future faith movement through his own network of leaders and ministries (CEEC Diocese of St. Patrick and The Society of St. Patrick & St. Aidan) and beyond in various streams of the Church. His focus is on equipping believers for maturity, ministry and mission as passionate and devoted followers of Jesus Christ, seeking to be His healing Presence in a broken world. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Stephanie, for over 47 years. She is the love of his life, partner in the work of Christ and mother to their son, Christopher.
Bishop Wayne has written feature articles for Dr. Robert Webber’s The Complete Library of Christian Worship, Worship Leader Magazine *(co-authored with his wife, Stephanie), Worship for the Ancient Faith, Acts 29 Magazine, Treasures Old and New and other publications. He is currently finishing a 31-day devotional meditation book on the Holy Communion, titled, “At This Table Set by Love – The Transforming Power of the Lord’s Supper”. His educational background has focused on English Lit. & American History at Arlington College, English Lit. and Theological & Historical Studies at Oral Roberts University. He holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from Evangelical Episcopal University, a Master of Divinity Degree from the Evangelical Episcopal Theological Seminary, an Honorary D. Min. from Theological Open University of Secunderabad, India, as well as an Honorary Th.D. in Historical Theology from Sanctus Theological Institute, a member of the Oxford Educational Network which is an international association of independent higher educational institutions.
Archbishop Boosahda also serves as one of the founding bishops of the worldwide Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (CEEC). Pioneered in 1995 with an emphasis on the convergence of the charismatic, evangelical and sacramental streams of the Church into one mighty River, the CEEC now numbers over 4700 congregations and numerous ministries in over 20 nations.
